Our vision

Every year, fewer than 10,000 patients worldwide receive radiotherapy with carbon ions, helium or other ions — a tiny proportion compared to the 20 million new cancer cases recorded each year globally¹ ².

Yet international analyses estimate that at least 5% of cancer patients could benefit from carbon ion radiotherapy if it were available on a large scale³ — that is nearly one million patients per year worldwide.

Our mission

The primary mission of Normandy Hadrontherapy is the design, development, manufacturing, installation, industrialisation and subsequent commercialisation of a first hadrontherapy research and treatment system based on cyclotron technology. Hadrontherapy is a form of radiotherapy that uses beams of accelerated protons and ions to treat radio-resistant tumours: it represents a hope for more effective and less impactful treatment for patients suffering from resistant cancers. The technological solution proposed by NHa aims to make hadrontherapy (proton therapy and carbon ion beam treatment) accessible to clinical treatment centres.
